Beautiful Daedunsan

By the end of last month, I visited Daedun Mountain (대둔산). To enjoy the good weather and breath-taking view, especially for the fall foliage from a high spot!

We departed from Sincheon Station around at 7.10 AM, and arrived at the parking lot of Daedun Mountain before 11 AM. We were scheduled to ride the cable car around 11, but because of the crowd, we got the ticket for 12.25 PM. Therefore, we changed our plan, had our lunch earlier.

We first entered the restaurant recommended by our guide. But because, it's too early, we can order nothing but bibimbab. Since we had eaten a lot of bibimbab, my friend and I decided to go to another restaurant to had something else.

We went to a restaurant named 전주식당 and ordered two main dishes: 더덕구이 (15,000원) and 버섯찌개 (10,000원). 더덕 is the root of a flowering plant namely Codonopsis Lanceolata. It tastes good. 버섯 is a type of mushroom. What we ate that day were all good for our body (health), even for the side dishes. We got plenty of side dishes, most of them were green vegetables. The other were soybean paste soup (된장찌개), kimchi pancake (김치전), and fried ginseng (인삼튀김). Everything there were tasted so good, and worth the price! =3

First part of side dishes: soybean paste soup and Korean vegetables~
Second part of side dishes: fried ginseng.

For the third part of side dishes (kimchi pancake), I forgot to shot it. ㅋㅋㅋ
First main dish: mushroom soup =3
Second main dish: 더덕구이 ^^
We can see the restaurant in this picture: it's in the middle, with its name's written on the big white board: 전주식당.
Finished eating, we had a walk around the cable car boarding point, and later went to a coffee shop, had some drink while waiting for our boarding time.

12.25 PM, we boarded the cable car, and arrived 5 minutes later. We started our trekking in Daedun mountain. The fall foliage is not as good as in the advertisement picture, but the view from above there was amazing.

see the crowd?

We passed by the bridge namely 구름다리. As we know, 구름 means cloud. Maybe because it was built in a very high place. It was so cool. So many people passed by it at one time. Everyone took a picture while passing it. It was a bit shaky, but 재밌다! ㅋㅋ
FYI, this bridge connects Imgeum Rock and Ipseokdae.

View 2 from 구름다리
View 3 from 구름다리: we can see the 삼선계단 from hereㅋㅋ

We continued our trekking, and finally arrived Samsun Stairs (삼선계단). The line-up was so long. Because only one person can pass it at one time (no surpassing), and everyone took a picture while passing, we spent quite long to pass those stairs. And as typical ahjussi(s) in Korea, who are easily to get angry, some of ahjussi(s) behind me shout at those at the stairs taking pictures, loudly: "Hey! Stop taking picture! Don't you see the line is getting longer and longer?" and something like that (of course in Korean).

And because of that, when I passed the stairs, I didn't dare to take any pictures. I really wanted to take some pictures of the amazing view behind my back when I passed those stairs. ㅠㅠ But fortunately, my friend who was in front of me, take some pictures of me, though the view behind my back didn't come out at the pictures. >< It's all because of me being a coward! ㅠㅠ

while lining up for 삼선계단.

This view is on my left side, taken when I passed the stairs.

Finished with our trekking, we went back to line up for the cable car. We waited for more than 90 minutes to ride the cable car down. It's longer than our trekking time. hiks
Later, I heard from other visitors, who decided to go down by foot, instead of waiting for the cable car, that it took only 40 minutes, and we can enjoy the fall foliage on our way down! aaaa~

We can see the 구름다리 again on our way down to the cable car boarding point.

When riding the cable car ^^
We then left the parking lot of Daedun Mountain around 3.40 PM, towards 장태산 자연휴앙림. It's like a small forest, where we can enjoy the good weather of autumn there. We had a walk there for around 30-40 minutes only, since we had a very long way to go to Seoul (plus the heavy traffic jam in Seoul).

We arrived Seoul around 8.30. Had our dinner there, and went back to our own home. It was a tiring day, but for sure, I had a looooot of fun that day! Special thanks to 뀨언니 who has brought me there! <3

    1. Hi there, the exact date can be different each year. But I think it will be best on the first week of November. I'm afraid the leaves may have all gone if you visit later.

  2. Hi, it was nice reading your experience. Im intending to go to daedunsan this mid november, i have searched and came up with this route from SEOUL.

SEOUL-DAEJEON (KTX), then taxi to Seobu terminal and take bus 34 to DAEDUNSAN. Can you share how did you get there from SEOUL?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Michelle!

We purchased a tour package via wemakeprice.com, which include bus fare (return trip from Seoul), cable car in Daedusan (return trip), and entrance fee of Daedunsan and Jangtaesan (if applied) - I don't remember how much it was since it's been several years - we only need to pay for the food. There were several meeting points available, and we chose Sincheon Station. The bus were already standby at the Station before 7 AM.

If you haven't purchased the KTX tickets, I suggest you to search in wemakeprice.com or similar web, try using 대둔산 as the keyword (it may available around October, or end of Sept. It will be much more convenient for you because you won't need to change from KTX to taxi - you can sleep all the way in the bus or enjoy the view, it will also cost you less!

      Wish it helps :)

      Regards,
      Devy
